Happy Campers

Soul Mate and I went away camping for the weekend. It was the perfect way to wind down from my first (short) week back at work. Some dear friends popped by for an evening visit on Friday, we slept in on Saturday, had a magnificent breakfast and then went for a 2.5 hour hike. The afternoon was spent relaxing in the sun and then by the fire with our books. Eating is a big part of our camping tradition, and this weekend was no exception. Steak on Friday, Cornish game hens on Saturday. Regardless of where he is, Soul Mate always manages to pull off gourmet quality meals. Our new tent is great, it even has a vestibule. We made and slept in the coziest nest we've ever built in a tent. Completely unplugged from technology and civilization worked its magic, we greatly enjoyed the serene setting and each other's company. Our camp site was divine.

We were surrounded by massive ferns and tall moss-ribboned trees.

Two sun-dappled days in the bush.

The path from our site to the ocean.

Soul Mate. He turns into a little boy who searches for treasures on every beach we visit.

The very best part of the weekend? The opportunity to practice "just being."

I'm not going to lie. I nailed it.

  2. Right on, Dawn, there have to be those times in our relationships with each other and the one we struggle to have with ourselves.

  3. Thanks Elizabeth and Lynda. I am really beginning to understand and love this new way of life. The way of least resistance to just being, that is.
